Savvis Becomes GTSI's Preferred Partner

Missouri-based IT infrastructure-as-a-service provider Savvis, has announced a strategic partnership with IT solutions provider GTSI Corp.

A number of federal agencies outsource their IT services to GTSI and Savvis has now become the preferred provider of a gamut of hosting and IT infrastructure services to GTSI.

Due to limitations on power and data center space, more and more government agencies are outsourcing their IT infrastructure instead of maintaining it in-house.

“Increasingly, government agencies are going outside their own walls to secure IT and hosting services and they will now benefit from the combination of GTSI expertise in government operations and our expertise in managed IT infrastructure services,” said Phil Koen, CEO of Savvis.

GTSI is gearing up its business model to fulfill this requirement of federal agencies. Bill Weber, GTSI’s Senior Vice President of Programs and Services said, “We needed a strategic IT infrastructure provider who could support the growth in our managed IT services sales model.”

Savvis boasts expertise in offering an array of flexible IT infrastructure services including managed and co-location hosting, virtualized computing and storage services, managed networks, and managed security services.

“After an extensive assessment of service providers, we selected Savvis as the preferred provider based on their IT infrastructure services expertise, strong government experience, and flexible services offering,” said Weber.

Savvis’ IT infrastructure-as-a-service delivery model is in step with GTSI’s Technology Lifecycle Management (TLM). The TLM offers government agencies a framework for the acquisition, deployment, management, support, and disposal of technology.

Savvis operates 29 data centers covering over 1.4 million square feet in the U.S., Europe, and Asia, including three in the Washington, D.C. federal marketplace.
