Oracle Unveils Netra x86 M3 Servers for 4G Network Infrastructures

Oracle’s (News - Alert) new Netra x86 M3 servers are capable of increasing performance and reliability and bringing down costs in 4G network infrastructures and cloud-based deployments. Users when acquiring these servers will also be availing features such as operating system, virtualization, cloud provisioning, and systems management built-in at no additional charge.

The new servers Sun Netra X4270 M3 Server and Sun Netra X6270 M3 Server Module are part of Oracle’s complete portfolio of long life, highly reliable carrier-grade servers. Powered by embedded eight-core, Intel (News - Alert) Xeon Processor E5-2600-based Platform for Intelligent Systems, the Netra x86 M3 servers are integrated with the necessary features to cater to the evolving needs of present day’s fast paced telecommunications market and can support higher network infrastructure workloads and cloud-based deployments.

Oracle stated that the servers are available with Oracle Solaris or Oracle Linux, Oracle VM and Oracle Enterprise Manager Ops Center to help users realize simplified control, streamlined deployment of new services and deliver maximum efficiency.

Some of the notable features of the new servers are: flexible architecture for rapid deployment and no downtime for I/O upgrades; fully redundant power, cooling, and I/O infrastructure; NEBS Level 3 certification; PCIe express modules make every blade to have its own unique I/O configuration; and more.

“Oracle’s new Netra x86 M3 systems combine industry leading carrier grade designs with the new Intel Xeon processor E5-2600’s speed and efficiency to provide high performance, help enable low TCO and provide the massive scalability required for 4G network infrastructures and cloud-based deployments. With these new systems, Oracle is continuing to raise the bar for next generation network infrastructure, offering the most complete, reliable portfolio of carrier-grade servers on the market,” said Raju Penumatcha, vice president of Netra Systems and Networking at Oracle, in a press release.
