Harris Corporation to Participate in Upgrading VA IT Systems

Harris Corporation (News - Alert) has been selected by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) as one of eight companies in the large business category to participate in a five-year technology and telecommunications Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quality (IDIQ) contract designed to upgrade the department’s information technology (IT) systems.  

Harris is already a leading provider of IT solutions for the VA.

With a total ceiling value of $12 billion, the Transformation Twenty-One Total Technology (T4) contracting vehicle covers services that will streamline and modernize VA operations.

“T4 offers the VA a carefully triaged selection of industry partners that can deliver the products and services needed to achieve top clinical, operational and financial performance,” said Jim Traficant, president of Harris Healthcare Solutions, in a statement.  

“Harris’ ranking on the preferred VA partner list opens the door for us to deliver priority technologies and solutions to improve care delivery and benefits for our nation’s Veterans,” said Traficant.

Officials with Harris said that the company will offer the VA an array of IT services, including program management and strategic planning, systems and software engineering, enterprise networks, cyber security, operations and maintenance, IT facilities solutions, technical support and systems engineering.

TMCnet recently reported that Harris Corporation has been awarded with $17.8 million order to supply the U.S. Army with additional Falcon II AN/VRC-104 radio systems. 

The radios will be used to provide high-frequency communications in multiple variants of Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles.

A fully integrated communications system, the AN/VRC-104 includes the Falcon II AN/PRC-150 high-frequency tactical radio. 

Critically needed beyond line-of-sight Type-1 terrestrial communications is delivered by the AN/PRC-150.

Deployed widely around the world, the AN/PRC-150 provides continuous coverage in the 1.6 to 60 MHz frequency range, at 150 watts of power in vehicular configurations.
