Harris Corporation Wins 17.8 Million Order from the U.S. Army

Headquartered in Melbourne, Florida, Harris Corporation (News - Alert), an international communications and information technology company, has been awarded with $17.8 million order to supply the U.S. Army with additional Falcon II AN/VRC-104 radio systems. 

The radios will be used to provide high-frequency communications in multiple variants of Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles.

A fully integrated communications system, the AN/VRC-104 includes the Falcon II AN/PRC-150 high-frequency tactical radio. 

Critically needed beyond line-of-sight Type-1 terrestrial communications is delivered by the AN/PRC-150.

Deployed widely around the world, the AN/PRC-150 provides continuous coverage in the 1.6 to 60 MHz frequency range, at 150 watts of power in vehicular configurations. 

With the help of the system's beyond-line-of-sight coverage, forces are able to stay connected to mission critical information when line-of-sight communication is not unavailable.

"The majority of the DoD's MRAP vehicles are equipped with Falcon family radios," said Brendan O'Connell, president, U.S. Department of Defense business, Harris RF Communications, in a press release.

 "The AN/VRC-104 has contributed to the success of MRAP missions by providing secure long distance communications, particularly in terrain obstructed by mountains or other geographical features."
