ScaleBase Load Balancer a Promising Solution for Detangling Databases

Many applications and websites are highly dependent on databases in delivering the information that their users require. Unfortunately, this can make growth a difficult process requiring data format conversion when switching to a more expansive architecture. Scalebase offers an alternative to this process in a cloud-based service that provides high availability and scalability for SQL databases.

Scalebase eliminates the need for application rewrites or database format changes. A five-step setup process will identify the bottleneck in your application and then direct your database connections through the ScaleBase Database Load Balancer IP Address.

“Our solution does not require you to change the format of the database, we let you run your existing database, scaling it with high availability into the cloud environment. This is used through a load balancer complex, the load is distributed through data bases completely independent of the application. The ecosystem remains the same because it’s still the same database, you won’t need to change or retrain your developers because of this,” said VP of Sales and Co-Founder Liran Zelkha at this year’s Cloud Connect Expo.

The product supports almost all database types—MySQL, Oracle (News - Alert) Database, IBM (News - Alert) DB2 or Microsoft SQLServer are all valid formats that stand to gain expansive scalability with the platform that was not previously possible.

ScaleBase is currently in beta and the company recently opened up testing to a broader swathe of the IT sphere. Interested parties can register on the company’s website.

“We are encouraged by the feedback we’re receiving from our private Beta customers, so we’re inviting more My SQL users to experience the benefits of our database load balancer first-hand,” said Doron LevAri, ScaleBase CEO on the release accompanying the news. “I would also like to thank the people who have registered and invested their time in using our first version. With their help, we are continuing to improve and enhance our innovative technology.”

While ScaleBase is targeting SMBs, they’ve seen interest from companies of all sizes. This is not surprising given that database maintenance is a need that companies of all sizes have.

At the Cloud Connect expo, ScaleBase presented a full demo of its solution which Zelkha said has received positive feedback from attendees.
