Westcon Partners with ArcSight to Bring Advanced Security to the Enterprise Market

Leading global distributer Westcon Group, announced today a strategic a contract expansion with HP owned security provider ArcSight (News - Alert). The move will boost Westcon’s already impressive security portfolio and aims to provide best in breed support for customers in North American and European locals. Up until now both regions have lacked access to ArcSight solutions.  Westcon Group (News - Alert) is a $3 billion distribution group with a global footprint that has historically emphasized distribution in specialty technology markets like UC, mobility and security.

Westcon Group will begin distributing ArcSight solutions in 5 new major global markets, adding Norway, Ireland, Finland, Sweden, and the United Kingdom to the countries it’s already servicing. These include France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany and Italy.

The solution focuses on providing advanced security and compliance support to those who adopts it. According to the release, “The ArcSight ETRM platform is a highly integrated product suite for collecting, analyzing, and assessing security and risk information. The solution enables companies to easily safeguard their business by delivering complete visibility into all activity across the IT infrastructure, including: external threats such as malware and hackers; internal threats such as data breaches and fraud; risks from application flaws and configuration changes; and compliance pressures from failed audits.”

TMC (News - Alert) had a moment to speak with Lynn Murphy who outlined several reasons why the move is so important for both of the companies involved. “ArchSight has never leveraged distribution in North America but acknowledge or positions in the market” Murphy said. The selection of WestCon as a primary distributor is an important indicator of the deal, showing the companies established track record as a solutions distributor.

Westcon’s intentions to provide only the best and enterprise solutions mean that ArcSight will join an impressive pantheon of solutions providers. Westcon announced a partnership with Palo Alto (News - Alert) for its firewall in September and this announcement furthers the company’s strategy to assemble the best and brightest for its resellers.

Customer feedback was also taken into account when look for a security and compliance monitoring solution that would meet the needs of Westcon’s base. Westcon’s customers “have to be that trusted advisor within an install base, they also have to go out and attract new clients. So they need to offer security and corporate compliance and this was another tool in their kit so to speak,” Murphy said.

The role of distributor has evolved dramatically in recent years and emphasis has been placed on WestCon to offer a diverse portfolio of products that meet the need of its customer base. Adding more extensive access to security means their base will not need to look elsewhere for a solution, streamlining the assimilation of a product purchase.

Last but certainly not least is the growing need for security in an increasingly hostile global market. In the release ArcSight’s CEO Tom Reilly said,   “New cyberthreats and industry regulations are driving increased global demand for security and compliance solutions from a broader set of markets. ArcSight is committed to delivering solutions that help enterprises and government agencies alike protect their IT infrastructures, and Westcon's deep domain expertise will provide a strong value addition to our global channel program."

By combining the cutting edge security solutions that ArcSight offers with the global reach of Westcon’s distribution both companies can mutually assure their relevance in the fast-paced enterprise tech market.
