Network Security Event to Feature Astaro's Jack Daniel as Speaker

By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributor

Astaro (News - Alert) Corporation, a network security solutions vendor, plans to send its representative, community development manager Jack Daniel to the upcoming Security BSides conference in Ottawa Canada.

Daniel is an active participant in the organization, planning and promoting the BSides events throughout the United States and Canada.

This is the first Security BSides event to take place in Canada and will feature prominent Canadian network security experts.

Officials with the Astaro said that the Security BSides events are an ad-hoc gathering of information security enthusiasts born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment.

These community driven events include discussions, demos and interaction from participants. BSides employs an open platform that gives network security experts and industry professionals the opportunity to share ideas, insights and develop longstanding relationships with others in the community.

Company officials said that Jack Daniel will moderate the network security speed debate portion of the BSides Ottawa agenda, interjecting with his opinion and insights on various topics.

According to company officials, Astaro, a global BSides sponsor, is a consistent supporter of Security BSides and was the first corporate sponsor of these events.

Astaro, company officials said, is committed to the development of the network security community through the support initiatives like Security BSides events and through the creation of a community development position within the organization.

Jack Daniel is the community development manager for Astaro Corporation. As one of the technology community’s leading activists, he supports several information security and technology organizations including NAISG (National Information Security Group), where he serves on the Board of Directors.

Jack co-founded and organizes the Security B-Sides events, an ad-hoc gathering of information security enthusiasts born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment.

These community driven events include discussions, demos and interaction from participants – all designed to increase awareness of network security related issues.
