Astaro (News - Alert) Corporation, a provider of network security appliances, announced that Jack Daniel, Astaro’s community development manager, will speak at the upcoming Secure Boston event at the Four Points Sheraton Norwood Hotel & Conference Center on Sept. 16.
The event, hosted by (ISC)2, will focus on topics related to the business case for security. The presentations will explore the process for creating and sustaining value in organizations with security and audit operations and how to leverage that value to develop competitive advantage in them.
It will also analyze the metrics that will help the organizations measure their success, beyond the traditional "how secure are we?" type of data points.
By changing the way they provide security services, organizations can create enormous value and move from being viewed as a "cost center" to a "business enabler.”
Daniel will present a practical guide to complying with PCI (News - Alert) standards.
As one of the technology community’s leading activists, Daniel supports several information security and technology organizations including National Information Security Group or “NAISG”, where he serves on the Board of Directors.
Daniel is the co-founder and organizer of the Security B-Sides events, and he currently sits on the Boston Area Windows Server User Group Steering Committee where his official title is Consiglieri.
Daniel is a frequent speaker at user and security group events and is CISSP and MCSE certified. In 2010 he was recognized by Microsoft (News - Alert) as a MVP. He has also been honored with the title as one of the “Top 10 Sexy Infosec Geeks of 2009.”
Astaro recently published an e-book titled Driving Profitability Through Information Security, which is available for free download at http://tiny.cc/. The e-book describes how organizations can use information security to increase productivity and profitability.
