ConnectWise Upgrades Managed Device Application Programming Interface

ConnectWise (News - Alert), a provider of business management solution for IT service providers, value added resellers (VARs), independent software vendors (ISVs) and managed service providers (MSPs), announced it has enhanced its managed device application programming interface (API).

Leveraging the enhanced ConnectWise software, developers of third-party integrations can ensure the full integration and management of devices such as switches, routers, storage, printers, scanners, copiers, and VoIP phones with the ConnectWise platform.

The Managed Device API enables any configuration to be updated in ConnectWise. Integrations with third party solutions can also be extended. The new managed device API is introduced with the recent ConnectWise 2011.3 product update. There will be more API updates that enhance an integrator's ability to connect to ConnectWise.

Management of configurations can be streamlined through ConnectWise to support, audit and bill from a single platform. ConnectWise partners will benefit as all of their client's devices can be discovered, managed and billed through ConnectWise.

The ConnectWise community of third party integrators is able to leverage the new API capabilities to enable greater automation for their customers, company officials said.

“The Managed Device API enhancements are great news for our partners and our vendor community,” said Jeannine Edwards, director of the ConnectWise Community, in a statement. “The tremendous boost that our API stack received in the 2011.3 release demonstrates our sustained commitment to the vendor community and our promise to continue to support robust API's for all the members of the IT Nation.”

Recently, ConnectWise announced that Anittel, an Australian national IT and telecommunications services company, deployed ConnectWise software. ConnectWise software has been installed in the company's 15 office locations and is used by its 230 employees nationwide.

The telecom services company selected ConnectWise to support and automate their help desk, dispatching, service-level management, project management and CRM with integrated time tracking, billing and reporting in a single, Web-based application.
