By Stefania Viscusi, Assignment Desk Editor
Businesses today are increasingly moving to IP communications as a way to cut costs and generate more revenues. Today, a new study by Global Industry Analysts “GIA notes that the IP-PBX (News - Alert) market is, “reviving the otherwise stagnant telecommunication industry.”

According to the study, businesses are replacing their TDM systems with IP-PBX’s across verticals including government, finance, medical, call centers and a host of other businesses who can benefit from an IP-PBX or hosted PBX.

A number of European and North American businesses are following suit and have said they will increase their budgets to allow for the purchase and deployment of IP-PBX and IP telephony services and systems.

Of these businesses planning to make the move to IP, officials with GIA said, they also intend to complete their migrations to IP telephony by 2012.

As more businesses become mobile and look to the increased productivity and functionalities offered by advanced phone systems, providers who offer solutions to meet their needs at a good price point, and that are reliable, will have a chance to take hold in this market.

Options for businesses with different budgets and needs include the ability to IP-enable existing TDMA infrastructure, hosted PBX solutions and purchasing hardware for IP telephony systems.
