By Carolyn J Dawson, TMCnet Contributor

A recent series of forecasts from ABI Research (News - Alert), which provides in-depth analysis and quantitative forecasting trends especially in the global connectivity, and in other emerging technologies, has shown that’s the value of the overall world business VoIP services market is all set to become double and to exceed an amount of $20 million by the year 2015.

The market includes VoIP integrated access, SIP trunking, hosted PBX (News - Alert) Centrex services. The report will be advantageous to VoIP product managers, telecom service providers, carrier VoIP providers, multi-tenant IP-PBX vendors, and many related users.

ABI Research, established in the year 1990, provides market intelligence to the global connectivity market. Its research reports reflect quantitative forecasting and an in-depth trend analysis. The research tool has been designed to provide a clear insight for the decision makers, based on specific and the complimentary practices prevalent in the technology market. The primary or key issues that customers require answers include market demand assessment, competitive intelligence, technology assessment, industry benchmark, product priority, product development, business planning, marketing strategy development, and budgeting and forecasting.

Since 2009, the market has been on a rise in terms of both volume and value. The growth can be attributed primarily to organizations that have replaced traditional legacy phone systems, with hosted VoIP technologies. Previously focused entirely on small and medium sized business, now even larger businesses are adopting the hosted IP services. The increased deployment of the IP services is evident, as they are highly scalable and provide cloud applications. Even there businesses prefer to utilize premises-based IP/PBX systems, as compared to the hosted IP/PBX services, while considering new telephony investments.

In a release, a senior analyst at ABI Research, Subha Rama, said that, “The trend of companies outsourcing their communications infrastructure has taken off in earnest, as enterprise decision-makers look for cost savings without having to compromise on features and functionality. Among VoIP access technologies, SIP trunking, with its promise of trunk consolidation, centralized management and administration, and application federation across enterprises, has seen considerable growth in terms of installed base and revenues in the last 12 – 18 months. Overall, the growth momentum seen in 2009 was sustained in the first half of 2010 as companies continued to shy away from capital investments, opting, instead, for the OPEX (News - Alert) model of hosted VoIP services.”
