Immersion Releases New Product in the TouchSense 2000 Series

Immersion, a dealer in haptics technology, has announced that it have released a new product in the TouchSense 2000 series to power feedback effects in touch screen computers.

The company has claimed that newly unveiled TouchSense 2500 enables drop-in integrated circuit solutions to drive haptic effects that bring the user experience in touch-based devices to a new level by restoring the "mechanical" feel to otherwise static screens.

According to Immersion, the TouchSense 2500 solution supports integrated and advanced user interface and touch-gesture-based interactions, and supports both Windows and Android (News - Alert) operating systems. The company has stated that it's a good fit for touch-based PCs, slates, tablets, netbooks, notebooks, ultra-portables and smartphones. The TouchSense 2500 is currently available as an off-the-shelf haptic processor, and it can also be ported to a device manufacturer's specific chip to add haptic feedback to its solution.

Vice President of Marketing at Immersion Corporation, Dennis Sheehan has stated that the TouchSense 2500 provides OEMs and designers an easy-to-implement haptics solution and makes these interfaces dynamic, ultimately pleasing users and differentiating products. 

The TouchSense 2500 series offers: cost-effective compelling haptic effects to improve the user experience in mass market devices; drop-in haptic processor from major IC manufacturers and porting available for custom processors; streamlined haptic effects library; rich user interface integration with capacitive buttons, alerts, touch screens, and touch gesture like tap, double-tap, swipe, spread, pinch, slide/drag and long press; I/O interfaces with I2C, USB and OS support including Windows 7 and Android; low power consumption; and mass market suppliers for inertial actuators and amplifiers. 

The TouchSense 2500 is currently available as an off-the-shelf haptic processor, and it can also be ported to a device manufacturer's specific chip to add haptic feedback to its solution.
