Cloud hosting and managed IT services provider BlueLock announced that it has teamed up with VMware to unveil the beta availability of a new enterprise-class cloud service based on VMware vCloud Datacenter.
In addition, the company also announced the beta availability of a new plug-in, BlueLock CloudConnector, which is part of the company’s enterprise cloud offering.
The BlueLock CloudConnector plug-in allows VMware customers to view and manage private cloud environments and the company’s public VMware vCloud Datacenter Service resources in a single interface. This helps in enhancing the agility, portability and security provided by VMware vCloud Datacenter services, say officials.
Apart from facilitating current VMware customers to view and manage their existing VMware environment (their private cloud), the BlueLock CloudConnector also enables VMware customers to immediately realize the benefits of the next generation of cloud capabilities provided by VMware vCloud Director, the cloud delivery platform for VMware vCloud Datacenter.
According to a press release, BlueLock is one of only three North American service provider partners to offer the vCloud Datacenter Service beta.
The company’s public cloud is an enterprise-class cloud delivering consistent and auditable security and performance features such as layer 2 isolation, role-based access control and LDAP integration in a SAS (News - Alert) 70 type II certified data center.
BlueLock, as a VMware vCloud Datacenter beta provider, leverages VMware’s technology to provide a common management and security model that enables complete application portability across internal data centers and all VMware vCloud Datacenter services.
BlueLock said that its hosted VMware vCloud Datacenter Service with BlueLock CloudConnector is now available immediately. Interested VMware customers can contact BlueLock for a beta account, then download and install the BlueLock CloudConnector into their VMware vSphere Client interface.
“If you know how to manage your virtual machines with the VMware vSphere Client, you know how to manage our cloud with BlueLock CloudConnector.” said Pat O’Day, CTO of BlueLock.
BlueLock CloudConnector’s functionality complements VMware vCloud Director’s ability to move workloads between VMware-compatible clouds (public and/or private) in a secure environment.
Paul Maritz, president and CEO, VMware, said, “The new BlueLock service based on VMware vCloud Datacenter enables enterprises to improve efficiency and agility by leveraging internal and external resources in a fully compatible, compliant and flexible manner, developed and certified together by VMware and BlueLock."
