Integrien and TriCipher are now under new ownership. VMware Inc., a computer virtualization software company, has announced it has acquired the two smaller companies, according to an Associated Press (News - Alert) report. Financial terms of the transactions were not disclosed. VMware creates virtualization software designed to allow one computer to function as several. This technology enables businesses to cut costs through energy and equipment savings.
With the addition of Integrien, which makes performance analytics software, and TriCipher, which produces technology to help with online logins and user authentications, VMware will be even better positioned to compete in its respected space. According to company reports, both acquisitions are planned to close in the third quarter, although VMware does not expect the deals to affect its 2010 results.
In other VMware news, TMC (News - Alert) reported earlier in August that EMC Corporation (News - Alert) announced through a press release that TTX Company has chosen EMC and VMware technology to serve as the foundation of the company's virtual private data center and next generation backup and recovery implementation.
The deployment has helped TTX achieve 98 percent virtualization of its servers. This in turn would significantly reduce the company’s operational costs associated with its newly streamlined backup and recovery processes. In June, TMC featured a report on Orange Business Services’ (News - Alert) decision to join the VMware vCloud initiative to enable cloud computing providers to develop a common platform based on VMware vSphere that will enable cloud interoperability and portability.
By providing unique solutions that help customers switch easily between cloud computing providers, get different cloud services, and have a combination of cloud and non-cloud services working together, Orange Business Services wants to be at the top of the cloud services table. This week, Force3 announced that it has achieved Premier partnership status in the VMware Partner Network. The company’s continued efforts in becoming an expert in VMware virtualization solutions is further demonstrated by this achievement. This new status demonstrates Force 3’s commitment to ensure the Premier partner status is met by both pre-sales and delivery technical engineers.
