Next Generation OLED Deposition Machine being built by eMagin

eMagin (News - Alert) Corporation the number one player in OLED microdisplays and virtual imaging technologies, announced the signing of an agreement for building its first production OLED deposition machine, a machine which will be responsible for leveraging the recent advances in the company's proprietary manufacturing processes. This new machine will be a vital factor in the production of the company's OLED microdisplays and it is expected to increase OLED deposition capacity by almost tenfold, increasing the yield significantly and contributing towards substantially more automated processes. The new proprietary machine will replace the company's existing Satella which is an R&D machine adapted and used by eMagin for production since the company was established in 1996.

In a release, Andrew Sculley, the company's president and chief executive officer said, "I believe this next generation machine will play a key role in eMagin's continued growth and success in the coming years. The substantial production efficiencies to be gained from the next generation OLED deposition machine are clear, and the Satella will be used primarily by our R&D group, which will allow for a much more effective manufacturing process."

The new machine will be completed by Spring 2011, with the production starting in the Fall 2011.

eMagin a chief player in the field of OLED micro display technology and personal display systems, is responsible for integrating high-resolution OLED microdisplays with magnifying optics for delivering virtual images which are comparable to large-screen computer and television displays in portable, low-power, lightweight personal displays. eMagin microdisplays offer near-eye imagery in a number of products ranging from military, industrial, medical to consumer OEMs. 3D stereovision and head tracking for PC gaming, training and simulation, immersion therapy, and other applications is provided by the company's Z800 3DVisor.

eMagin was established in 1996, the company dedicated itself for delivering high-quality, high-resolution video and data information in virtually any environment. With the Organic LED technology coming into existence, eMagin saw an opportunity for developing cutting-edge displays in head-worn systems for military, law enforcement, medical, entertainment and other applications.

The company’s headquarters are located in Bellevue WA and its manufacturing unit is co-located at IBM’s (News - Alert) facility in Fishkill, NY. eMagin entered the market with their first products in 2001.
