QuorumLabs Keeps Cost of Server Backup Low for SMBs

So let’s say a small business has 15 employees, but no IT director. What if that business wants to make sure service is continuous, so they can be up and running no matter what – for example, during an earthquake.

How can they afford that level of support?

On a recent trip to visit tech companies in San Jose, TMCnet editors got an answer to that question through Cliff Hannel, vice president of product management and marketing for QuorumLabs, a spinoff of military computing technology provider Themis Computer.

According to Hannel, when a server goes down, it takes a business a long time to recover.

But taking a traditional approach to fixing the problem can be challenging.

“The traditional big enterprise solution is virtualized,” Hannel told TMC’s (News - Alert) Group Editor-in-Chief Rich Tehrani in a one-on-one interview. “Really, in the SMBs, they can’t afford that. They don’t have an IT director, it’s too expensive.”

According to Quorum, no other product provides One-Click Recovery from any storage, server or complete site failure easier or more affordably than QuorumLabs onQ.

“We’re applying that IT automation technology to turnkey business continuity solutions for small businesses,” Hannel explained.

QuorumLabs helps businesses figure out how easy it is to upgrade – for a quarter of the price of replicated SANs and virtualization.

Said Hannel: “You can get a pair of appliances starting under $10,000.”

In July, QuorumLabs announced that its onQ turnkey business continuity appliance designed for small- and medium-size businesses was selected by Richard Fleischman & Associates, a trusted technology advisor to more than 400 alternative asset firms representing over $100 billion in assets.

“As the leading technology provider to hedge funds and private equity firms, Richard Fleischman & Associates prides itself in the ability to evaluate new technologies and we only deal with companies that are reputable,” said Don Previti, director of business development at RFA, in a press release. “After evaluating several different solutions, RFA chose the onQ business continuity solution, which will give RFA immediate access to up-to-date applications and data on all of its servers in the event of a storage, server or entire site failure.”
