A Security Solution Portfolio for Midsized Businesses Released by Dell

A comprehensive security solution portfolio has been launched by Dell (News - Alert) for midsized businesses and organizations that integrates technology, products, security management tools and services to help customers protect their IT infrastructure and data.

To develop additional server message block focused unified threat management features and network security appliances, Dell and Juniper Networks (News - Alert) have announced plans for the expansion of their agreement.

Further, a partnership relation has been established between Dell and SecureWorks, a provider of information security services, to provide a full range of information security services that help customers identify, monitor and manage security risks and compliance needs. By the end of 2010, the services will be made available.

A full suite of advanced network security services is integrated into a single appliance by the Dell J-SRX services gateways, enabling organizations to simplify their security deployments. To secure the network, these network security appliances provide firewall, VPN, intrusion prevention, anti-spam, anti-virus and Web filtering technologies. The Dell J-SRX services gateways' features allow network administrators to configure and deploy advanced security architectures, the company said.

Life-cycle management capabilities including system inventory, helpdesk and application deployment as well as key security features such as vulnerability assessment and remediation via patch management and configuration enforcement, are offered by the Dell KACE (News - Alert) K1000 management appliance.

IT managers, through this are also enabled to plan, execute and report on security compliance efforts on Windows and Mac operating systems. The K1000 includes the Dell KACE secure browser, which uses application virtualization to reduce internet-based security risks.

A portfolio of security services such as round-the-clock security monitoring, monitoring and management of firewalls and security devices, security assessments and Web application scanning, will be offered by Dell, through its Secure Works partnership.

Steve Felice, president of Dell consumer, small and medium business, said: "Security is one of the most pressing IT issues businesses face today. It is difficult and increasingly complex for midsize businesses to assemble the resources to protect against the numerous security threats they face- a data breach through the network, data leakage by employees, malware attacks or lost laptops.

"Dell has entered the security space and done the work for our customers. The result is our comprehensive approach to security that helps protect against attacks via the network or endpoints like laptops and smart phones, and provides a full range of security services."

In related news, Dell and HP will certify and resell Oracle (News - Alert) Solaris, Oracle Enterprise Linux and Oracle VM on their respective x86 platforms.
