HP Files for PalmPad Trademark with USPTO

In early July, Hewlett-Packard completed the acquisition of smartphone maker Palm Inc. for a price tag (News - Alert) of $1.2 billion. And with that it acquired Palm’s innovative WebOS mobile platform, which the world’s largest PC maker is planning to use on a range of mobile devices including smartphones and tablets. Although, there is very little information on this filing, it is understood that the trademark would apply to a wide variety of products, ranging from computer hardware and software to electronic notepads and mobile digital electronic devices.

Consequently,

Meanwhile, as per market research firm iSuppli’s latest data, Apple (News - Alert) Inc. is ratcheting up its iPad production targets to meet booming demand. iSuppli now predicts that Apple will ship 12.9 million iPads in 2010, an increase from the previous forecast of 7.1 million units in April. Likewise, shipments will rise to 36.5 million in 2011 and 50.4 million in 2012.
