Seagate Debuts GoFlex Home Network Storage System

Seagate, a dealer in hard disk drives and storage solution, has stated that it has unveiled the GoFlex Home network storage system that allows users to wirelessly backup, share and stream music, photos, movies and more from multiple computers in the home.

The company has stated that the entire house can centrally store, easily access and continuously backup files from both desktop PC and Mac systems on the home network by connecting the GoFlex Home network storage to a wireless router.

According to Seagate (News - Alert), the GoFlex Home network storage system supports the external storage needs of every computer in users’ home – it connects to users’ Wi-Fi router, allowing them to wirelessly store and access files and back up multiple PC and Mac computers; users can store files in a central location on their network and use just one drive for all their storage and backup needs; GoFlex also has features to enable users to wirelessly share a USB printer with their computers and access their files over the Internet from computers and mobile devices when outside of the home.

Available in 1TB and 2TB capacities, the device’s modular design also enables the included drive to be upgraded when needed by simply removing the drive from the base (no tools required) and replacing it with a higher capacity GoFlex Desk hard drive.

Darcy Clarkson, Seagate vice president of Retail Sales and Marketing has commented that with broadband and home networks reaching higher levels of penetration and operating at higher speeds, consumers are increasingly downloading and streaming content into their home and wanting to access that content from anywhere. The GoFlex Home system makes it easy for families wanting to quickly and effortlessly backup, enjoy, and share their favorite home movies music or photos from any room in the house. The company has spent a lot of time focusing on simplicity with this product and believes people will find it very intuitive to set-up and get started. With the GoFlex Home system, now home networking is within reach for today’s digital households.

Seagate has stated that the new GoFlex Home network storage system can be purchased on Seagate’s website and select retailers for a suggested retail price of $159.99 for 1TB and $229.99 for 2TB.
