Hundreds of Microsoft Employees Worldwide Fail to Make the Cut

Microsoft (News - Alert) announced today that it will be cutting hundreds of jobs in the near future, according to The Register. It has been reported that there will be layoffs all over the globe, but the company has been keeping quiet about it, said writer Kelly Fiveash.
The employees do not seem to be that hindered by the cuts, however, since many of them "complain about lack of leadership." Yesterday, it was leaked that the PC giant was to cut a small percentage of its almost 90,000 worldwide employees. Many have taken their frustration out anonymously on a Microsoft blog, and some of the comments were surprisingly honest.
One former employee said, "I come in, I give 110 percent, but I see no direction, I see no recognition, I see no future, I see no leadership." There were many similar comments, according to Fiveash, including one from an employee that made the switch to Google (News - Alert):
"I wasn't a bad performer at MS by any means (left the company 5 levels up from where I joined), and as a matter of fact I admire bits and pieces of Microsoft to this day, but Google made me realize just how miserable I was there," another said.
Despite the rumors of layoffs, it seems that many of the staffers are almost ready to leave. After the Kin was unable to successfully compete with Apple's iPhone (News - Alert) 4 and other smartphones, Microsoft has been hit hard and needed to come up with another plan of action.
Just last year, there were several thousand job cuts at the company, leaving more than 5,000 people jobless. As of Thursday, Microsoft has neither confirmed nor denied this round of cuts. This announcement comes just over a week after RealNetworks (News - Alert) - who competes with both Apple and Microsoft - announced their global job cuts, according to TMCNet.
