VHS Invests in New TIBCO Event-Driven Software to Support Continued Growth

The Australian mobile industry has witnessed a mega-alliance last year, when two provider giants, Vodafone (News - Alert) Australia and Hutchison Telecoms Australia came together to pursue a joint venture. Now operating as Vodafone Hutchison Australia, or "VHA," the company has become the fastest growing mobile operator in Australia and has a huge customer base comprising more than 7 million subscribers. The company however seeks to expand its market beyond that through its recently launched '3' brand. To this end, VHA has recently employed TIBCO's event-driven software. The new platform is expected to construct a sustainable real-time infrastructure that is capable of supporting the company's customer growth.

To support the huge growth within its '3' brand, the company needed the complete revamp of its existing software infrastructure. Thus the company decided to swap out its former provisioning application for a real-time event-driven order management platform. TIBCO's solution provided VHS just that.

TIBCO's messaging, complex event processing and business process management solutions helped VHS revitalize its previous platform. The company linked all associated systems and processes together to deliver a scalable real-time provisioning.

With TIBCO solution, VHS achieves scalability to the architecture and attains the ability to orchestrate high volume transaction loads with greater reliability and reduced risk.

To meet with its expansion goals vis a vis '3' brand, the VHS focuses on bringing the services faster to the market. With the implementation of TIBCO software, VHS, on the one hand would be able to leverage its new enterprise service bus (ESB) backbone, on the other hand it will still be leveraging existing applications for getting the advantages of service-oriented architecture capabilities. With decreased application development times, VHA was able to execute operations faster while exercising lower operating costs.

Australian mobile market is one of the fastest growing markets and the new customers enter the market with new set of expectations regarding the quality and standard of the services. With this revitalized infrastructure, VHA is expected to deliver an enhanced mobile user experience. This new robust and stable platform will help the company meet with its growth needs.

"We needed a dynamic platform that could support our continued growth, improve our flexibility to support new products and services, and ensure sustained reliability for one of our core business processes," said Nathan Chandler, head of BSS & IT Strategy at Vodafone Hutchison Australia.

"Real-time provisioning provides VHA with the opportunity to significantly elevate its ability to deliver the best customer experience, as well as cater to the future mobile market," Mark Fahmy, the managing director of Asia Field Operations at TIBCO noted.
