Interop 2010 presented an exciting opportunity to bring multiple players together in one location to provide informative presentation on new offerings, next-generation technologies and opportunities for the coming year.

TMCnet took advantage of the knowledge base to speak with a number of key industry players at Interop this year, including Lau Shih Hor, CEO of Elixir. Shih Horvisited the TMCnet media booth for an interview captured in this video.

Shih Hor first expressed his excitement to be at Interop as it is Elixir's first time in attendance. The Singapore-based company provides business intelligence platforms companies can now put on cloud platform.

As for what it will allow customers to do, Shih Hor said, 'What we see these days is the amount of data that we are handling is just enormous. I mean, you look at the show floor here and there is so much information that is flowing. How do we grab hold of this data and put it into something that is useful for you to analyze a trend?'

Elixir takes that information and makes it meaningful for the company or end user. This platform is targeted to any kind of domain with a lot of data and a lot of demand on this data, or is driving a number of services.

When asked how products help customers, Shih Hor used the financial industry is one example. If customers are doing banking transaction, with all these commitments for money in and out, the financial institution needs the ability to analyze trends over time.

Users get a return on investment by optimizing the way they budget and the way they spend money. It allows them to improve decision making for individuals or the corporation.

Shih Hor was asked his view on customers in U.S. versus rest of world. He noted that the U.S. tends to be the opinion leader. What they do here will be immediately applicable in other countries. There are certain differences due to differences in industry regulations in other parts of the world, but very few.

As for the recovery from economic slowdown and if one country is faring better than others, Shih Hor noted that Asia seems to be picking up pretty fast - maybe not affected as much as others. The uptake in the region is really solid.

When asked about the future for Elixir, Shih Hor said they look forward to providing software with various partners in the U.S. Elixir is a platform player on their own and are looking for platform partners to produce applications to benefits a full range of users.
