Laszlo Debuts Webtop Cloud

Offering an integrated communications and real-time collaboration experience for consumers, Laszlo Systems (News - Alert) has launched Laszlo Webtop Cloud, a web-based platform that merges email, voice and messaging with social networking and other applications.

Laszlo Webtop Cloud is a cloud-based platform that supports multiple, interoperable applications and services accessible from any browser-enabled device without the need for downloads or plug-ins. From a dynamic, branded web-based environment that senses presence and allows information to follow the user, end users can access their voicemail, email, address books, calendar, instant or text messages, video conferences, and photos as well as social networking applications.

With Laszlo Webtop Cloud, customers can get ready-to-go Mail and Contacts and extend Webtop to deliver a brand-able solution for delivering a customized communications dashboard. It also enables the next-generation Web 2.0 workplace to improve the way people access content, complete transactions, and consume multi-media.

"We have created a surround sound of offerings for our customers, providing entertaining and informational content as well as voice and internet services. With Laszlo Webtop, we were able to quickly and easily merge our products to create a more engaging personal ecosystem that enhances our value proposition with customers," said George Shahid, CEO of Laszlo Systems. "Laszlo Webtop enables our customers' brands to become a destination for their subscribers"

For companies looking for speed of deployment and ease-of-use of a Software-as-a-Service, Webtop Cloud provides the same level of interoperability, scalability and extensibility as an on-premises deployment. It integrates with existing standards-based back end systems to create a cohesive and unified end user experience accessible from any browser-based device regardless of installed infrastructure.

In May 2009, the company entered into a global OEM agreement with Alcatel-Lucent. Laszlo officials while giving this information said that as part of agreement, Alcatel-Lucent (News - Alert) will market its Rich Communication Manager - of which Laszlo's Webtop platform is an element - to service providers, enabling them to deliver unified messaging across fixed, mobile and IP devices to subscribers.
