Acadia, the joint venture that Cisco and EMC (News - Alert), that was announced last year in conjunction with the announcement of VMware and Intel as premier investors of the collaboration, has been in limbo for quite some time without anyone spearheading the effort.
But the wait to find a front man for this organization is over, as the consortium of companies reportedly hired Michael Capellas to run Acadia.
Previously, Capellas was the chief executive of Compaq, MCI and First Data, and has a plethora of experience in the storage gear, servers, networking equipment and virtualization software market, especially targeting large businesses customers.
Having previously worked for Oracle (News - Alert), SAP and HP, in addition to running Compaq, Capellas made headlines in the industry when he agreed to sell Compaq to HP, creating a PC and hardware giant.
Acadia, based in Dallas, Texas, is a way for Cisco (News - Alert), EMC and VMware to pre-package their hardware and software. These pre-built packages are centered around the idea of running virtualization software across most of a data center.
