PROMISE Technology Unveils 32TB VTrak E-Class RAID Subsystems

PROMISE Technology Inc., a provider of RAID storage solutions, announced its newly expanded system, 32TB VTrak, which addresses the need for high-availability storage in post production and broadcast workflows.

The company's VTrak E-Class redundant array of independent disks - or RAID - subsystems are qualified for use with Mac OS X, Xsan and Final Cut Pro environments. These subsystems that feature dual active/active RAID controllers with automatic fail over/fail back capabilities are tailored to meet the needs of mission critical enterprise.

This high-availability RAID solution delivers multiple streams of uncompressed high definition video without dropped frames, thereby delivering consistent low-latency performance without dropping frames.

In addition, the PROMISE VTrak E-Class RAID subsystem is a mature RAID engine that is utilized with Xsan in film and video post production. Furthermore, the VTrak E-Class system can help increase user productivity by offering scalable performance and massive capacity to support modern demanding video workflows.

Company officials said in a press release that the new 32TB VTrak E-Class system provides 32TB of storage in the same 3U form factor at groundbreaking prices. When combined with the 32TB VTrak expansion chassis, it is aggressively priced at only 56 cents/GB and utilizes the same 3U form factor as previous systems, thereby preserving rack space.

In addition, up to 160TB is supported in non A/V environments at a cost of 52 cents/GB.

"The 32TB VTrak's expanded capacity is giving us room to grow and enabling us to respond to customer requests," said Chuck Filliettaz, CEO, 2G Digital Post. "This foundation now allows us to ingest, edit and store more types of rich media, which is letting us adapt to evolving market demands. PROMISE's triple play -- capacity, performance and price is the perfect complement to the increasing need for collaboration, agility and monetization."

The new offering enterprise-class 2TB drives and has been tested and qualified using the same rigorous standards as PROMISE adheres to for all its RAID products, company officials said.

"As digital content file sizes increase, the need for high performance and high capacity storage systems is more important than ever," said Jin-Lon Hon, vice president, PROMISE Technology. "The 32TB VTrak addresses the capacity and space constraints that our customers demand today, while at the same time, offers high-availability RAID storage at reasonable prices. If a user is looking for spectacular performance, reliability, cost and space containment, the new 32TB VTrak is an unparalleled product."

According to the release, the VTrak E-Class 16x SATA RAID subsystem is offered at $18,999.00 suggested retail price or 59 cents/GB. The VTrak 16x SATA expansion chassis is offered at $15,999.00 suggested retail price.
