newScale Offers Support for the Cisco Unified Computing System

newScale Inc., providers of the self-service IT storefront for the enterprise, has announced support for the Cisco (News - Alert) Unified Computing System (UCS). Service providers and enterprises can now leverage the newScale FrontOffice Suite as the self-service portal to their Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) solutions and private clouds powered by Cisco UCS.

UCS improves IT responsiveness to rapidly changing business demands. The next-generation data center platform accelerates the delivery of new services simply, reliably, and securely through end-to-end provisioning and migration support.

The Cisco Unified Computing System streamlines data center resources to reduce total cost of ownership; scales service delivery to increase business agility; and radically reduces the number of devices requiring setup, management, power, cooling, and cabling.

'Self service is a critical ingredient for successful cloud computing, and newScale (News - Alert) is uniquely positioned to help Cisco customers deploy more cloud-like IT services,” comments Scott Hammond, president and CEO of newScale, in a release.

'The need for speed and business agility is fueling the demand for cloud services, and IT service providers must respond. This announcement is the culmination of recent joint engagements with Cisco at several service providers and enterprises, and we look forward to continuing to work with Cisco as cloud computing becomes more widespread,' Hammond adds.

newScale’s software provides a Web-based 'menu' of standardized service packages and a unified IT storefront for data center services, managing both physical and virtual environments for any hypervisor stack. Users get controlled access to the IT resources they need on-demand and not wait for days or weeks.

Cisco UCS allows policy-based management of data center services using service profiles with pre-defined server and connectivity configurations. newScale provides the ability for UCS customers to configure and request service profiles so that UCS server blades can shift workloads as needed, resulting in increased capacity and utilization.

The newScale announcement includes the, support for Cisco UCS, membership in Cisco Developer Network, New Cloud Builder site for Cisco UCS, Cloud Operating Model Workshop: newScale also launched a new program to assist service providers and enterprises in transitioning to a cloud operating model.

Based on best practices from newScale’s experience in self-service IT management – along with expertise from Cisco and other data center partners – the Cloud Operating Model Workshop provides an individually tailored step-by-step plan of action for organizations building public, private or hybrid clouds.

newScale has introduced a new release, newScale 9, with self-service ordering and lifecycle management for desktop and data center services across cloud, virtual and physical compute environments. This new release takes the concept of an actionable IT Service Catalog to the next level. With several new product additions and feature enhancements, it's the most exciting upgrade yet for the newScale suite of software solutions - to run IT as a business and achieve the promise of self-service IT for the enterprise.
