News -
Alert) is opening an operations office in India, I thought to myself: maybe my prediction will actually come true.
According to reports, the company expanded to the southern Indian city of Hyderabad to balance and manage the rapid growth of Facebook users.
With other offices in California, Ireland and Texas, the new Asia and India offices is part of a larger movement to create support centers across time zones, with round-the-clock, multilingual support, company officials said.
According to Don Faul, director of global online operations, 70 percent of users are now outside the United States and use the site in over 70 languages, which makes the opening of offices outside the United States ideal.
“In India alone, we've seen rapid growth and now have more than 8 million people there actively connecting on Facebook,” Faul said.
The number of Facebook users has rocketed to over 400 million since it was founded in 2004.
