Venali Selects the Planet for IT Infrastructure

Venali (News - Alert), Inc., an Internet messaging company, has selected The Planet to host its IT infrastructure. Venali provides desktop and production fax solutions, including fax to e-mail conversion services that streamline sending, receiving and managing fax communications.

According to company officials, after extensive evaluation, the company selected The Planet’s private racks solution, load balancers, gigabit switches and private networks to fulfill its requirements.

“The decision we made to host with The Planet wasn’t singularly based on financials, but on the fact that it’s a smart business decision,” said John Poncy, CEO of Venali, in a statement. “Just because we’re an IT services company doesn’t mean we can’t outsource. Our IT team and developers who work closely with customers took time to understand the IT hosting model.”

Additionally, The Planet team provided both the cost-effective solutions that Venali required and strong operational excellence.

“By outsourcing IT infrastructure, we are able to work on strategic initiatives in our company, expand our portfolio and grow our business,” Poncy added.

Tom Blair, vice president of global sales with The Planet said that in today’s economic environment, the customers tell the company they want to focus more closely on their business, adding new products and services that are important to their long-term growth.

“We deliver scalability, reliability and value, so they can do what they do best in their own companies, rather than worrying about their IT operations,” Blair added.

The Planet is a provider of On Demand IT Infrastructure solutions, hosting more than 20,000 small- and medium-size businesses and 18.5 million Web sites worldwide.

Recently, The Planet announced plans to spend more than $7 million to enhance the network infrastructure in Houston and Dallas, its core operating cities.

The Planet officials said that the company plans capital investments in network capacity upgrades, expanded infrastructure for its private and virtual rack solutions, new routers and switches, and robust test platforms to evaluate custom solutions.

To increase network resilience and capacity, The Planet plans to double the number of 10 Gig-E links connecting its data centers with its Internet Service Providers. Also planned are capacity and functionality upgrades to meet the unprecedented traffic utilization demands of its colocation and managed hosting customers.
