Juniper Networks Introduces New Silicon forUpgrade of T Series Core Routers

Juniper Networks (News - Alert), a provider of innovative software, silicon and systems that transform the experience and economics of networking, has reportedly announced to introduce a new generation of silicon that will enable customers to quickly, efficiently and non-disruptively upgrade existing T Series Core Routers to a full duplex slot capacity of 250 Gbps without service interruption.

The T Series core routers are deployed on a wide scale worldwide, and the new chipset lays the foundation for a total capacity of 4 Tbps in a single, half-rack system. It will help the customers in scaling the T Series routers according to the rapidly accelerating service, subscriber and bandwidth growth.

The company also offers unified in-service software upgrades to the customers, enabling them to upgrade Junos Software from one version to the next with minimal risk of service interruption. Juniper gives customers the ability to scale the T Series while in service in order to fulfill its commitment to investment protection, continuous systems availability and operational continuity.

More than 5,500 systems of Juniper’s T Series have been shipped worldwide to date, as it is reportedly the only core router in the industry capable of supporting true line-rate 100 GbE interfaces. Leveraging the potential of TX Matrix Plus, customers having T1600 will be able to upgrade to multi-chassis systems at massive scale, as the new chipset will further enable the scaling of single chassis systems up to 4 Tbps.

Ray Mota (News - Alert), managing partner, ACG Research, said flexible high-performance network platforms that support 100 GbE are critical for the core of the network to scale efficiently and simply, as the wireless and IP services sector is constantly growing. Mota added that by committing to continuous expansion of its T Series routers, Juniper is providing its customers with the capability to leverage and expand existing assets to scale the core with maximum operational efficiency and investment protection.

According to Stefan Dyckerhoff, senior vice president and general manager, core business unit, Juniper Networks, the T Series is fundamentally different from any other router on the market because its architecture was designed to deliver leading core capacity and scale. Dyckerhoff added that the chipset Juniper is introducing today is the next step in its core routing strategy, delivering unparalleled investment protection and enabling the customers to continually scale their networks.
Recently, Juniper Networks had announced that Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. had selected its MX 3D Universal Edge Routers and EX Series Ethernet Switches powered by Junos Software for its next generation network infrastructure. The new infrastructure leverages the power of Junos to support millions of daily financial transactions from ICE's extensive customer base, which spans more than 50 countries.
