TANDBERG Announces New Codec for HD Video Deployments

Video communications solution provider, TANDBERG has reportedly added a new codec, Codec C40, to its C Series codec platform. The new codec will ensure greater scale for high-definition video deployments. The C40 is fashioned after the award-winning TANDBERG C90, which is claimed to be the most advanced telepresence and collaboration codec on the market. 

Additionally, the C40 provides enhanced access to high-quality video conferencing and telepresence from any meeting space. The C Series new includes four codecs that are fully interoperable with any standards-based video conferencing or telepresence system, and unified communications platforms such as Microsoft (News - Alert) Office Communicator.

“Many organizations are pursuing a tiered approach to video conferencing, using a combination of immersive telepresence suites, HD video conferencing systems and unified communications solutions,” Ira Weinstein, analyst and partner at Wainhouse (News - Alert) Research. “The C40 fits nicely into this approach by offering an affordable standards-compliant solution that can be integrated into any conference room or meeting space and increase accessibility to existing suites and endpoints.” 

Among other features offered by the new codec are1080p resolution, MultiSite capability, multiple microphones and audio inputs, and a full set of advanced APIs to meet the needs of integrators.
