NEC Eyes Innovation and Growth in 2010

NEC Computers, a subsidiary of the Japanese NEC (News - Alert) group is looking ahead at a year of growth and technological innovation, the company said in a report.

 

NEC Computers is the 'EMEA IT PlatForm Division' for NEC Japan and acts as NEC’s IT hub for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region. The company provides valuable solutions in the areas of cost reduction, Information System security, Data Centers and Green IT.

 

The company restructured its business in 2009, closing its PC business to focus on IT infrastructure. As part of its consolidation strategy, NEC has rationalized its portfolio, retaining only infrastructure solutions and virtualized multimedia client workstations. Such a portfolio favorably positions the company to meet market expectations in terms of high availability solutions, continuity of service and virtualization.

 

“We have cutting edge solutions with a growing reputation,” Tong Chhor said. “The businesses which have discovered us are impressed by the quality and performance of our solutions. Once tested, they are adopted.”

 

NEC has also made considerable headway in designing ‘green’ products with a focus on reducing greenhouse gases.

 

'Reducing energy consumption is of particular interest to companies operating in intensely competitive markets,” Chor said. “Thanks to patented solutions such as NEC Eco Center - spearheading our Data Center solution - NEC works with organisations to support their GREEN IT policy. NEC Eco Center is a compact, easy to administer hardware platform suited to Cloud Computing using low electricity consumption processors and an Aluminum chassis.”

 

Innovation is another area, on which the company plans to focus in 2010.
