Alert), a company engaged in designing and manufacturing of high-performance analog and mixed-signal semiconductors, has
introduced ISL8200M, a packed and scalable power module. The power module is designed to offer user-friendly all-purpose type of power solutions that meets a variety of point-of-load, or “POL,” power requirements.
The ISL8200M provided by Intersil is a 10A, highly integrated POL regulator offered in a surface mount QFN package with a PWM controller, power MOSFETs, power inductor and associated discrete components. The point-of-load regulator can be used for a range of applications meant for use in computing, telecommunications and networking infrastructure, and industrial markets.
The scalable power module said to have the following features and benefits:
·
Simple and easy to use: the POL pack offers quicker and easier construction utilizing input and output capacitors, support components and a solitary resistor to program the output voltage.
· Lowers risk: the ISL8200M is constructed utilizing smaller quantity components, provides quality performance without any risk and with reliability.
· Faster time-to-market: the pack reduces the production delays due to power supply problems and allows increased production time.
· Smaller space saving footprint: the ISL8200M is designed compact with 15mm x 15mm size and has 2.2mm sized shape for easy placing on the back side of any PCB.
· Simplifies inventory: the ISL8200M provides 10amps to 60amps satisfying most of the POL regulator applications using a single component.
The ISL8200M utilizes a patented current-sharing architecture that accepts input voltage from 3V to 20V and sustains output voltages from 0.6V to 6V. The architecture permits collimating of up to six modules to achieve a total output of 60A. The inbuilt remote voltage sensing in the module allows correct regulation low voltage to meet the requirement of high volume current needing applications.
The programmable and synchronizable switching frequency used in the system allows efficient controlling of switching noise in noise sensitive systems. The module is assembled in thermally enhanced surfaced mount QFN package offering consistent soldering, solder quality inspection and easy access with oscilloscope probes.
The ISL8200MIRZ is offered in 23-lead QFN packages and priced at $15.86 for 1000 pieces package.
