BalsamWest FiberNET, a fiber optic broadband company based in Sylva, N.C., picked Opticon (News - Alert) NMS because of its advanced fault-detection, Geographic Information System or application integration and ease of implementation through INFRAX’s. For INFRAX Systems, BalsamWest FiberNET is their first customer under their new identity, INFRAX Systems. The company had announced the completion of name change procedure on Jan 7, 2010.

The breadth and depth of the application capabilities, especially its GIS integration, will identify network outages, allowing the company to improve customer service without disrupting their business operations, they added.

BalsamWest FiberNET is planning to release a set of new services including a feature-rich VoIP product combined with high speed Internet service. For this, the company required a robust network management solution at affordable price.

Paul Aiello, CEO of INFRAX Systems, said, “The scope of the OptiCon NMS as a full-function Operations Support System integrated with GIS, Database, and Fiber Management tools that facilitate fault detection and network provisioning, provides an economical way to establish fiber-based network management services in a scalable manner.”

Aiello added that the functionality of OptiCon NMS will be further optimized for fiber networks in 2010.
