GWOS Increases Customer Base by 105%

Not all the companies are looking down the barrel in the times of financial difficulties. There are companies that have adapted to the changing market conditions and have come out unscathed. GroundWork Open Source, or “GWOS,” commercial open source systems and network management software, is one such company that has witnessed considerable growth in 2009. In this period, the company has reportedly doubled its GroundWork Monitor Enterprise subscription base with new Enterprise QuickStart and Flex Pricing.

GroundWork Open Source is considered to be an extensible, scalable and cost-effective alternative to HP OpenView, BMC Patrol, IBM (News - Alert) Tivoli and CA Unicenter. GroundWork Open Source¹s flagship solution GroundWork Monitor has provided network and systems management solutions for companies monitoring tens to tens of thousands of devices.

In 2009, GWOS was the only open source vendor listed in Gartner’s (News - Alert) 2009 Magic Quadrant for IT Event Correlation and Analysis, or “ECA.” Gartner also included GWOS as a sample vendor in its Hype Cycle for IT Operations Management. GWOS also was referenced in both the Open-Source Service Management Tools in the Hype Cycle.

“2009’s GroundWork Monitor 6.0 development delivered a highly flexible, modern user interface based on the JBoss Portal which proved to be monumental for doubling our customer base,” said Peter Jackson, CEO of GWOS. “Our 2010 initiatives expand upon the 6.0 platform focused on better user experience, cloud monitoring and delivering additional integration with other ITOM solution providers – which will quintuple our customer base.”

GWOS was the first free Website to provide a common community for core developers of IT monitoring. MonitoringForge was released to help users to create an open standard and cross platform integration.

Recently, the company introduced the latest version of its Enterprise Quickstart as a SUSE-powered virtual appliance. The pairing of GroundWork Monitor Enterprise with SUSE Linux Enterprise 11 in a virtual appliance gives customers a fully supported enterprise-class Linux, enterprise-class monitoring and turnkey product all at a radical price point, according to David Dennis, senior director for marketing and business development at GWOS.
