IBM Signs 10-Year IT Outsourcing Agreement with Digicable

IBM has reportedly signed an outsourcing agreement with Digicable, a cable and broadband distribution player in India. The agreement is worth $83 million and spans 10 years.

 

Under terms of the agreement IBM (News - Alert) will support the integration of Digicable’s digital media content delivery and value-added services applications.

 

Cable networks across the U.S. are making use of the latest technologies to offer new and improved content to their subscribers. These new technologies will help them to focus on their core businesses, reduce time-to-market for new services and adapt quickly to meet future market requirements.

 

According to the new agreement, IBM will align important strategic business and IT objectives of Digicable to provide greater leverage of technology investments for the exponential growth planned by Digicable. IBM will also allow Digicable to manage its business processes better and help enhance revenue per subscriber.

According to the agreement, IBM will launch Value Added Services such as Video-On-Demand (VOD), Push-VOD, interactive TV, Internet service on TV, gaming and telephony for Digicable. Digicable customers will have access to more channels with better picture quality and sound with this, states IBM. The company will also provide IT infrastructure services, network support, application maintenance services and security services according to the agreement.
