“Despite challenging economic conditions in 2009, activity in the data integration tools market remained strong. Demand for lower-cost tools and faster time to value, new market entrants, and ongoing consolidation via acquisitions of specialists put pressure on both niche and established vendors,” Gartner’s report said.
Talend is best known for its flagship open source data integration solution, Talend Open Studio. Since it was released in October 2006, the solution has recorded 5 million lifetime downloads and one million core product downloads. The enterprise-version of the solution, Talend Integration Suite extends the functionality of Talend Open Studio, with technical support and additional features for collaboration and deployment in large enterprise settings.
“We view our positioning in the “Visionaries” quadrant by Gartner a validation of the ability of commercial open source vendors to provide customers with the enterprise-ready solutions needed to address their data integration challenges and improve business performance,” said Bertrand Diard, CEO and co-founder, Talend. “In my opinion, this inclusion reflects our ongoing commitment to innovation and delivering unmatched value to our clients. Open source vendors like Talend will continue to bring to market cost-effective, enterprise-ready alternatives that are right on par with leading solutions.”
