GoToMeeting Wins Web Conferencing Category from Nemertes Research Survey of IT Users

Citrix Online, a division of Citrix Systems (News - Alert), Inc., announced that its Citrix GoToMeeting solution was awarded with the highest score in the Nemertes Research 2009 PilotHouse Web conferencing award program. Based on ratings from nearly 1,400 IT professionals who use conferencing technology, GoToMeeting outperformed the competition across the board.

Flexible deployment options and cost savings were the key value factors, and intuitiveness and simplicity as technological high points, for the selection.

GoToMeeting is a Web conferencing tool that allows meeting online rather than in a conference room. It’s the easiest and most cost-effective way to organize and attend online meetings.

Patented technology enables co-workers, customers and prospects to view any application running on your PC in real time. With the flexibility to meet in person or online, users are able to do more and travel less.

With GoToMeeting, it’s easy to conduct on-the-fly or scheduled presentations with a prospective customer, perform live demonstrations in real time, collaborate on documents with your colleagues and provide training to customers and employees.

GoToMeeting earned Citrix Online (News - Alert) a value score of 4.02 out of 5, the highest of all vendors in the award program.

“That score was driven primarily by the flexible deployment options and cost. No other Web-conferencing provider offers more service plans [customers] can choose from monthly or annual plans, which offer significant cost savings,” Nemertes officials said.

Also, the Citrix Online solution earned high score for technology, for its simplicity and intuitiveness. They pointed to GoToMeeting features such as “Meet Now” instant meetings and strong security.

“Customers rave about how easy it is to establish a meeting, invite participants, and organize the workspace,” Nemertes officials said. “These features are especially important because a large majority of Citrix Online customers are small to midsize businesses and many have limited [if any] IT support. This simplicity makes it ideal for non-technical users who may otherwise stay away from online conferencing tools.”

“A majority (76 percent) of survey participants currently use or plan to implement Web conferencing, making this technology a standard part of the communications portfolio in many organizations,” comments Katherine Trost, research analyst, Nemertes Research.

“Hosted Web conferencing solutions such as GoToMeeting are more popular than in-house-deployed applications due primarily to lower up-front costs and easier support for remote users,” also said Trost.

“These results are especially meaningful for us because they reflect the candid opinions and experiences of customers with many Web conferencing tools to choose from,” Elizabeth Cholawsky, vice president for products and client services for Citrix Online, said.

“And they demonstrate very convincingly that our competitive differentiators of simplicity, affordability, flexible deployment options and rich functionality are highly valued by customers,” Cholawsky added. “Citrix Online is committed to an excellent customer experience and this award shows that we are delivering on that promise.”
