Blancco Experiences a Surge in Demand for Onsite Disk Wipe Solution

As the breaching of records increases year after year, companies all over the world are looking at effective means of safely retiring sensitive data.

To serve this need, Blancco, a company that offers data erasure and end-of-lifecycle solutions, has announced that a growing number of organizations are opting for its onsite data erasure services.

One of the major reasons for companies to choose Blancco is its gold standard for data erasure, said the company. Supporting multiple platforms and standards, the Blancco technology helps its clients to comply with regulatory policies for data destruction.

For companies wanting to eliminate sensitive data from IT assets, Onsite data erasure offers point-to-point control facilities. According to Blancco, many companies are now looking to erase the data onsite, even if it will later be removed by an offsite service provider. When choosing onsite or offsite disk wipe services, the company should look for characteristics such as 100 percent overwrite of hard drives, EPA-best practice physical disposal with a zero-landfill policy, International Standards Organization (ISO) compliance, and so on.

“Costly data breaches jeopardize corporate compliance with key regulations -- such as those in the payment card industry, those governing the Department of Defense, and the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act -- leaving companies to search for foolproof ways to remove sensitive data from IT assets flagged for retirement or redeployment,” said Markku Willgren, president of U.S. operations for Blancco.

With Blancco Kit, even the in-house IT staff and third-party onsite disk wipe providers can destroy the data conveniently and portably, with auditable reports. Blancco’s data erasure solutions adhere to all major government and military erasure standards, the company states.

Recently, the company announced its expansion into Eastern Europe, with three new channel partners, in Slovenia, Poland and Romania. Previously, Blancco only held certification as the only data erasure software certified by the Polish authorities.
