Ingenico, AviIT and OnAir Ink Alliance to Provide Secure, Online, In-Flight Payment Solutions

Ingenico, a provider of secure payment solutions, has reportedly signed a strategic partnership agreement with AviIT, a provider of specialist IT-based solutions for the aviation industry, and OnAir, a provider of in-flight communications, to develop automated in-flight payment solutions.

This alliance, as stated, is aimed at offering authenticated, secure payment transactions in real-time through commercial satellite communications links.

AviIT has been focusing in the design and development of innovative software product solutions based on true 'thin-client' architecture. The company is involved in full-project delivery right from requirements capture through to technical design, consultancy, implementation and integration services.

Moreover, it offers IT infrastructure and application support. The company had recently announced eManWeb, a technical publication solutions that is said to enable users to access any OEM application, maintenance manual, ERP program, pdf’s, or any other electronic file anytime, anyplace, over any enabled device.

OnAir’s onboard services allow airline passengers to use their own mobile phones to send and receive emails, exchange text messages and make and receive voice calls. It also gives passengers to access the Internet and use web chat and webmail, all from the comfort of their airline seat.

As per the terms of this collaboration, Ingenico's new iPA280 Payment PDA, a key component of this solution, is said to offer a rugged, secure EMV payment platform with full “Point of Sale” capabilities running on Windows CE. The iPA280 solution combines secure card payment and PDA functionality, and transforms the sales environment into a mobile POS, thereby allowing for a high quality of service and a complete purchasing experience, company officials said.

By providing online authentication of the transaction the collaboration will help to tackle credit card fraud, and revolutionize the offline payment methods currently used in-flight by airlines globally. Moreover, this alliance is also aimed at using solutions that are capable of maximizing additional revenue opportunities and reduce settlement time.

For over 25 years, Ingenico has been delivering secure payment services for the payment solutions market. From standard payment applications to private schemes, and vertical solutions to value-added services, Ingenico has been delivering off-the-shelf and bespoke payment applications which are reportedly in compliance with local and international regulation.
