NEC Display Solutions Debuts First Desktop LCD Making Use of White LED Backlights

NEC Display Solutions has released the MultiSync EA222WMe -- the first desktop LCD that makes use of white LED backlights. The 22 inch widescreen LCD desktop monitor combines cutting-edge technologies with dynamic design accents to “energize” desktop computing.

Though the monitor may look like a reissue of the EA221WM model that was released a few months ago, the new EA222WMe makes use of a backlight with LED and uses less power than the CCFL system (neon tube with cold cathode) of its predecessor. NEC (News - Alert) claims the EA222WMe utilizes up to 50 percent less energy than conventional monitors.

NEC claims that all the models in its MultiSync EA series offer flexibility for any number of applications and environments and meet the diverse needs of businesses of all kinds. Like the rest of the EA series, it features Dynamic Video Mode for enhancing video and images with real-time optimization of brightness, color and contrast -- and ECO Mode for extending the life of the display by allowing the user to dim the backlight, thereby reducing heat generation and conserving energy.

A carbon savings meter calculates and totals CO2 savings that have been achieved by operating the monitor in Eco mode, thereby encouraging the user to save energy. The MultiSync EA222WMe is also extremely user-friendly. It can be tilted and swiveled and features height adjustment of up to 110 mm, as well as a pivot functions, enabling the display to be used in portrait format.

The MultiSync EA222WMe equipment package is rounded off by two integrated loudspeakers and numerous interfaces for future-proof compatibility. In addition to the mini D-sub and DVI-D connections, the monitor also features a DisplayPort interface.

Tthe product has also received numerous independent certifications which confirm its outstanding ecological and ergonomic quality.

Recently, NEC Display Solutions unveiled the energy efficient MultiSync LCD175M monitor and the VUKUNET Universal Platform.
