Campus Veolia Optimizes Bandwidth Consumption with Blue Coat Appliances and Software

Blue Coat Systems, a dealer in application delivery networking, has said that its ProxySG appliances and ProxyClient software helped Campus Veolia, the training center established by Veolia Environment reduce its bandwidth usage by 40 percent.

 

The company has said that its ProxySG appliances offer a comprehensive foundation for the Blue Coat Secure Web Gateway (News - Alert) solution and advanced WAN Optimization feature sets. ProxySG appliances combine high-performance hardware with Blue Coat SGOS, a custom, object-based operating system that enables flexible policy control over content, users, applications and protocols.

 

The ProxyClient helps deliver a headquarters work experience to all employees wherever they are. With ProxyClient, users can define which applications to accelerate and which to block based on security and bandwidth requirements. The solution is administered through ProxySG management console for easy provisioning, configuration and maintenance.

 

Campus Veolia deployed ProxySG appliance along with the Blue Coat (News - Alert) WebFilter software for enforcing and reporting workforce compliance with corporate IT policies across the organization. ProxyClient helped them extend IT policy enforcement to all of its remote and mobile workers.

 

Campus Veolia has acknowledged that it was able to bring down its bandwidth consumption by 40 percent after deploying Blue Coat solutions. The saved bandwidth was used optimally to support videoconferencing and broadcast video feeds operations. And also by blocking Web content and applications that do not comply with corporate IT policies, Campus Veolia optimized the performance of its business applications and significantly improved Web navigation.

 

With the Blue Coat ProxySG appliances and Blue Coat WebFilter software, Campus Veolia has also fortified its protection against viruses, spyware, malware and other malicious content. The Blue Coat Reporter platform was also installed to provide a centralized, role-based view of all user activity allowing IT managers to easily create and run reports charting cost per bit, user activity and likely malware sites and more.

 

Blue Coat has stated that they enable companies like Campus Veolia to optimize and secure the flow of information, while enabling its network administrators to accelerate the deployment of new services that improve employee productivity. Campus Veolia was able to gain an understanding of user activity as well as the power to control that activity to increase the performance of its business applications using their products.

 

Recently Blue Coat announced strategic plan to drive long term revenue growth and Assystem Germany deployed Blue Coat ProxySG and ProxyAV appliances for WAN optimization and security.
