has announced that the Taipei-based Test & Measurement Center of Excellence helped ASMedia get their new ASM1051 SuperSpeed USB 3.0 to Serial ATA single chip bridge to market quickly.
Tektronix’ Centers of Excellence highlight advanced technologies to provide customers a firsthand experience of how Tektronix applications can work for them in the new digital world to improve design efficiency.
According to ASMedia officials, the company’s ASM1051 is the single chip solution to bridge both SuperSpeed USB, or “USB 3.0,” and High Speed USB, or “USB 2.0,” to Serial ATA.
Customers can easily enhance their storage device performance via ASM1051 since ASM1051 also has an integrated CPU and embedded RAM (

The company’s single-chip USB 3.0 to SATA bridge – 1051 series – is well positioned to bring the benefits of faster transfer rates for backup or data sharing – if it could be brought to market swiftly and pass compliance testing.
Tektronix Test & Measurement Center of Excellence has helped ASMedia in optimizing the characterization, debug and compliance testing process. Tektronix USB 3.0 test solution and expert consultation was used in the testing process. ASMedia was able to demonstrate and check its fully compliant designs at industry events instead of going to market with open issues.
Weber Chuang, AVP of Tech and Product Marketing for ASMedia, said that the advanced Tektronix instrumentation and software helped the ASM1051 series to achieve excellent electrical characteristics with minimal jitter and a very clear eye. The company is confident that the solution will provide a very stable and consistent link to the host controller and yield excellent throughput even with a cascaded seven meter USB 3.0 cable. Tektronix tools were crucial in helping us achieve our design goals so quickly.
Dave Slack, Marketing Manager of Technology Solutions (
