Harris Corporation Earns $196.5 Million Contract


Harris Corporation has reportedly received a $196.5 million contract from the Department of State Consular Affairs IT Services.
 
As part of the five-year contract, the company will support the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Consular Affairs to deliver critical services to U.S. citizens domestically and overseas, and facilitate foreign visitors traveling to the United States.

Company officials said that Harris will support the Department of State's Information Technology by providing installation, training, help desk and information technology services in support of 270 domestic and international consular operations.
 
The contract includes work from Harris Corporation's Department of State, Consular System Support - Bureau of Consular Affairs agreement, as well as work from other contracts including Department of State Passport Support. Consular operations include embassies and consulates plus passport agencies that provide support to American citizens, immigrant visa and non-immigrant visa applications.
 
"Harris will leverage over 12 years of experience supporting the Bureau of Consular Affairs to ensure this project exceeds expectations," said Wayne Lucernoni, vice president, civil federal operations, Harris IT Services, in a statement.
 
Lucernoni said that the company is proud to have a key role in helping the Bureau issue and adjudicate visas - and in that capacity, help safeguard the security of U.S. borders.
Harris is an international communications and information technology company serving government and commercial markets worldwide.
 
Earlier this month TMCnet reported that Harris Corporation has been awarded a $419 million basic purchasing agreement contract to supply the U.S. Army with Falcon III AN/PRC-117G multiband tactical manpack radios and vehicular power-amplifier adapter systems.
 
Company officials said that the initial delivery order under the contract is valued at $165 million for manpack and vehicular radio systems and support services. Additionally, Radio systems from this order will be deployed by the Army for missions worldwide to provide next-generation, high-speed tactical satellite and voice-and-data communications.
