Enablence Technologies Enters into Agreement with Global Telecom Systems Developer

Enablence Technologies Inc. has reportedly entered into an agreement with a Tier 1 global telecommunications systems developer to develop and supply it with Enablence's Planar Lightwave Circuit (PLC)-based components.

According to a press release, Enablence, as part of the agreement, will develop advanced PLC based components that will enable state-of-the-art Next Generation Networks (News - Alert) (NGN).

When the development project comes to successful completion, Enablence will also become a long-term supplier of these PLC based products to this global telecom systems vendor.

"We are very pleased with this latest agreement with an important customer, since it recognizes Enablence as technology leader in the industry just as interest in high-speed Next Generation Networks continues to grow rapidly" said Arvind Chhatbar, CEO of Enablence, in the release.

Chhatbar said that being able to provide leading-edge PLC based products to global systems companies is demonstrated proof of the expertise and strength as a value-added business partner to Tier 1 customers.

Enablence Technologies designs, manufactures and sells optical components, subsystems and systems to a global customer base.

Back in May Enablence Technologies announced that it had been selected by TUTOR, a French network provider, for the continuation of a fiber-to-the-premise (FTTP) deployment in 86 SIPPEREC-member municipalities in and around Paris, France.

Furthermore, TUTOR has also selected the Enablence TRIDENT7TM platform to support the roll-out of FTTP triple-play services in the City of Bitche, in northeastern France.

TUTOR will purchase Enablence's TRIDENT7 Universal Access Platform Optical Line Terminals (OLT), Optical Network Terminals (ONT), and Element Management System, to deploy a Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON).

This network will enable TUTOR to provide full triple-play services that can deliver up to 100 HDTV channels, ultrafast internet service and low cost internet-based telephone service in 86 SIPPEREC regions, representing approximately 1.7 million customers, as well as in the City of Bitche, for 8,000-10,000 subscribers.

Earlier the same month, Enablence Technologies had announced that it was selected by Fujitsu (News - Alert), a Japanese telecommunications equipment manufacturer, to supply its PLC based fiber optic products.

Under the arrangement, Fujitsu will source its PLC based component requirements from Enablence on an ongoing basis.

Enablence offers PLC-based multiplexer/demultiplexer, variable optical attenuator (VOA), Variable Multiplexer (VMUX), and reconfigurable optical add drop multiplexer (ROADM (News - Alert)) products.

With its PLC based multicast switch technology and AWG MUX/DEMUX technology, Enablence is in a unique position to provide enabling building blocks for new generation directionless and colorless ROADM systems.
