Emulex Partners with IBM to Introduce Cloud Storage Security Solution

Emulex Corporation has partnered with IBM to offer a host-based encryption solution based on the Emulex (News - Alert) Secure Host Bus Adapter or “HBA” technology and IBM’s Tivoli Key Lifecycle Manager.

According to officials with Emulex, its HBA products leverage eight generations of advanced, field-proven technologies to deliver a distinctive set of benefits. Because of their common driver architecture and unique features, these products are perfect for large-scale Fibre channel deployments.

Emulex Secure HBA technology protects data in flight and at rest by offloading encryption processing onto the HBA. Customers can extend their existing investments in infrastructure, management, training and processes with HBA technology’s virtualization-tuned, high-performance Fibre Channel Storage Area Network (SAN) connectivity.

“Enterprise key management is an essential feature that security conscious companies demand. Emulex and IBM (News - Alert) are taking this to the next step by collaborating on the newly developed Key Management Interoperability Protocol,” said Steve Daheb, chief marketing officer and senior vice president of business development, Emulex.

“With this combined solution, IT managers will have a seamless standards based encryption solution that will enable them to achieve maximum data center protection,” Daheb said.

Officials with IBM said the company is committed to bringing solutions to market with partners such as Emulex. The company believes that this partnership allows customers to minimize the risk of loss or breach of sensitive information and helps to facilitate easy compliance management of regulatory standards.
