Accenture and Nokia Sign Agreement for IT Services

Accenture (News - Alert) and Nokia Siemens Networks have signed a three-year IT application management services agreement. Financial terms of the agreement however were not disclosed.

Nokia Siemens (News - Alert) Networks as part of the agreement will outsource to Accenture IT application management services that support certain Nokia Siemens Networks human resources and finance and control functions, as well as Nokia (News - Alert) Siemens Networks corporate-wide tools and platforms.

“Nokia Siemens Networks has successfully partnered with Accenture over recent years,” Manfred Immitzer, chief information officer of Nokia Siemens Networks (News - Alert), said.

Immitzer said that this agreement allows the company to draw on the application services expertise of a trusted business partner to help provide IT capability with additional flexibility, greater agility and increased cost management.

“Accenture’s relationship with NSN spans more than a decade, well beyond NSN’s formation in 2007. We continue to look forward to helping NSN leverage its IT investments to increase operational performance and gain cost efficiencies,” Veli-Pekka Lappalainen, a senior executive with Accenture’s Communications & High Tech group, said.

Accenture is a global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company.

India’s Department of Post awarded a 45-month information technology modernization contract to Accenture to design a new enterprise IT architecture and migrate the DoP to a more efficient, reliable and user-friendly IT system.

As part of the contract, Accenture also will advise DoP on the development of a wide-area network environment that helps connect all post offices on which various online services can run, and will study the feasibility of implementing an enterprise solution for the department’s core banking and advanced financial services.

Accenture officials said that the project is designed to help the DoP drive greater revenue and regain market share in different services and products, including bill payment, e-posts, life insurance, money transfer and banking.
