GCT Develops GDM7024 for Korean Market

GCT Semiconductor (News - Alert), a provider of integrated semiconductor systems for wireless communications, has reportedly launched its mobile TV receiver, GDM7024 specifically developed for the T-DMB market in Korea.

 

As a high performance single-chip receiver with built-in DC/DC converter, GDM7024 is said to offer the smallest form factor on the market, 3.8 x 3.8 mm, and smallest BOM with limited number of passive components.

 

GCT’s statement also indicated that this newly launched solution was selected by Korea’s top-tier handset maker for a new T-DMB phone to be released in December.

 

“By integrating the DC/DC converter into our T-DMB receiver, we are offering a much smaller form factor and cost reduction that will allow our customers to be more competitive on the market,” Kyeongho KH Lee, president and CEO at GCT Semiconductor, said.

 

“Korea’s T-DMB market is the world’s second largest mobile TV market, and we are pleased to be selected by a top-tier Korean handset maker,” Lee added. “Building on the success of S-DMB in Korea, GCT is now the only chip vendor that supplies both S-DMB and T-DMB single chip receivers to the Korean market.”

 

GCT designs, develops and markets SOC devices for the mobile handset and emerging mobile wireless broadband industries. With its CMOS radio frequency, wireless modem technology and SOC expertise, GCT has been offering CMOS single-chip mobile WiMAX (News - Alert) solutions, CMOS single-chip mobile TV solutions, and integrated cellular CMOS RF transceivers.

The company’s newly launched GDM7024 is said to empower mobile TV handset makers with considerable savings on cost and enable them to produce more competitive T-DMB products with higher performance mobile TV reception.
