Mimosa Systems Integrates NearPoint with NetApp Snapshot

Santa Clara, Cali.-based provider of Live Content Archiving systems, Mimosa Systems (News - Alert) has announced further integration between Mimosa NearPoint and NetApp’s Snapshot technology. NearPoint is a Microsoft (News - Alert) Exchange content archive software system. The integrated system allows for shadowless archiving, storage management and data protection for Microsoft Exchange environments. The storage footprint of the combined solution is smaller to deploy, faster to recover and lower in overall management costs.

The Mimosa NearPoint archive utilizes NetApp Snapshot as the source for archived data and the compliant archival of data capture for all Exchange database transactions and events including email, moves, message deletes, calendar items and contacts.

Mimosa NearPoint customers can also use NetApp’s SnapManager for application data management. NetApp SnapManager automates complex, manual and lengthy processes associated with the backup, recovery and verification of Exchange Server databases, without requiring Exchange Journaling.

“Today's business users rely on Microsoft Exchange as a business-critical application,” Patrick Rogers, vice president of Solutions Marketing for NetApp, said. “As a result, uncontrolled email growth can be crippling to IT budgets.”

“Together, NetApp and Mimosa are working to deliver deeper integration to curtail the spiraling management costs IT organizations face in storing, retaining, retrieving and recovering Exchange data,” Rogers said.

“The expanded integration between Mimosa NearPoint and NetApp's SnapManager for Exchange will deliver additional value to organizations that need to archive and store content long-term for compliance purposes,” Tim McGrath, senior network administrator, Chichester School District, said.

Mimosa NearPoint has already been integrated with several other NetApp technologies, including NetApp SnapManager for SQL Server, SnapDrive, SnapMirror, and FlexVol. TMCnet recently reported that Mimosa System has combined NearPoint with Plasmon Archive Appliance.
