Arvada Fire Department in Colorado Selects RADWIN

The Arvada Fire Department in Colorado has selected RADWIN’s systems to connect fire stations to headquarters and provide high-capacity, long-range connectivity.

“We were previously leasing T1 lines and paying tens of thousands of dollars per year to connect our stations with headquarters. Additionally, one of the stations was also the data center and the 1.5 Mbps was simply not adequate for our needs,” said Scott Winberg, IT specialist for the Arvada Fire Department, in a statement.

“We had previously looked at a licensed radio network, but found it was too expensive and that it would take years to recoup our investment,” said Winberg.

The company then decided to evaluate license-free wireless broadband systems because they presented a compelling price and performance offering, he said.

“Today, following the deployment of RADWIN’s radios, we couldn't be happier with their high capacity and performance,” he added.

Telworx, RADWIN's Certified US Partner, was the distributor for the project.
“We knew RADWIN's systems were perfect for this project based on previous successes. We deployed a combination of WinLink 1000 and RADWIN 2000 systems, and the Arvada Fire Department now has a 48 Mbps net throughput connection between the data center and HQ and at least 15 Mbps to all the stations”, said Chris Day, vice-president of wireless sales, Telworx.

Day said that they expect to have an ROI of about 12-14 months while increasing their service to each location by at a factor of 10X or more. Ilan Moshe, president, RADWIN US, said that the company is proud to serve the Arvada Fire Department.

“Our systems meet the mission-critical voice and data needs of first responders such as fire, police and emergency services. With our systems, emergency services can connect stations and benefit from a high-speed, reliable connection at a competitive price,” said Moshe.

RADWIN delivers wireless backhaul and broadband access solutions in the sub-6GHz space, empowering carriers and service providers to connect subscribers everywhere.

In September, RADWIN had announced that the Baldwin City School District in Kansas deployed RADWIN 2000 High-Capacity solution.

RADWIN 2000 was chosen to connect the district’s schools and deliver the high-capacity connectivity needed to enable students to take state exams online, company officials said.
