Fairchild Semiconductor Offers Camera Switch Portfolio to Designers

Fairchild Semiconductor is offering a camera switch portfolio for designers of 3G smartphones, cell phones, set-top boxes, security cameras and notebooks. This portfolio will solve so-called "compelling design challenges" in these applications, company officials said. Fairchild Semiconductor provides semiconductor technology that powers the products people use and also makes them more energy efficient.
 
The application-specific solutions from Fairchild provides strong isolation, multi-interface handling capability and reduced EMI. Typically, higher frequency cell phones like smartphones need to manage parasitics for optimal signal integrity. As cameras within these phones move to higher resolutions, signals can deteriorate due to parasitic components. To tackle this issue, Fairchild offers the industry’s first image module switch, the FSA1211, to isolate parasitic components up to -45dB of OFF isolation. The FSA1211 is a low-power, 12-port, high-speed switch optimized for isolating a high-speed source.
 
Fairchild offers solutions like FSA642 to comply with multiple camera interfaces such as MDDI, MIPI and YUV. The FSA642 is a bi-directional, low-power, high-speed analog switch optimized for switching between two MIPI devices like cameras or LCD displays and on-board multimedia application processors.
 
Fairchild provides enough design flexibility to place the image processor anywhere on the board. In addition, the FIN212 and FIN210 have the ability to isolate and serialize with Fairchild’s µSerDes solutions. At present, 3G phones are moving to higher frequencies, which generate unwanted EMI. In order to solve this issue, Fairchild offers a number of products such as the FSA1211, which reduces the radiated EMI of the signal path to also improve RF desense. Another challenge for designers is to reduce the overall on capacitance on data paths in portable designs. The camera switch solutions from Fairchild feature a low on capacitance to accommodate a faster data rate and to lower the overall on capacitance.
 
Fairchild Semiconductor delivers energy-efficient power analog and power discrete solutions. The analog, audio, video, camera switches and USB switches from Fairchild offered in a variety of functions, configurations, packages and performance levels are instrumental in minimizing redundant circuitry, eliminating connectors, simplifying design and conserving space in designs, company officials said.
